family pictograms

Tonight, when 4 year old D. was going to bed he said to my spouse:

"I know which door to go into at night because I have a D. on my door. And a hockey player, because I like hockey.

You should have a 'p' for Papa on your door and a butterfly because you like butterflies (last night D. came home and declared that he didn't like butterflies because 'girls like butterflies.' My spouse replied that he liked butterflies. Clearly this made an impression on my young son).

Mama would get an 'm' and a boy because she likes me. No. She loves me. And her picture should be a heart, for love.

And S.(his nine year old brother) should have an 's' and a zombie."

That is too sweet! I just love the way that kids see the world. And what better representation of a mama than her child and a loving heart?

So sweet, innocent and pure, and true.

Why does he "go into the door at night"? My 4-yr old still wakes up at night sometimes, as he has nightmares / night terrors. I wondered if it was the same for your boy.

Ha! I love it! He goes from the sweetest ever sentiment about mommy and then moves right into "zombie" for his brother. LOL!! Too cute~

Aww, that is so cute, what he said for you. He sure is charming!

Hi Laurie,

When your present project is in Production, why not move on to a children's book (for pre-schoolers and a few years past, let's say ages 4-8)...of quotes from D with great illustrations?

Next, for older children and adults who think like S (there are many)..a collection of his ideas and words...also with interesting illustrations?

Please advise. I think these are books that might sell like proverbial sizzling melba toasts:)
