another question for you

I am considering applying for BlogHer Ads.

Call it 'paying for the internet' money.

In your opinion, how much of a sellout would this be? How distracting would you find the blog if there were small ads down the left margin?

I would ban ads from pharmaceutical companies and private health care providers, as well as for all purported cures for cancer (or for other illnesses, for that matter).

Please let me know your honest opinion, either in the comments or via email.

I say go for it. It would be ok to see adds, I'm pretty much use to them on other blogs. Sometimes I see things I am intrested in and sometimes not. I don't see a thing wrong with it especially if it helps you in some small way.Hope you have a great weekend.

IMHO, Blogherads are great. I never considered doing ads on the blog. And I don't expect to make any money off of them. But what I really appreciate is that BlogHer promotes member blogs below its ads -- so not only are you introduced to other blogs but so are your readers!

Do it. It's a great way to get a little extra cash for doing something you love. Won't bother me one bit.

I felt the same way before applying...but BlogHerAds really take the opinions of their members into opinion, and as you stated, you can block ads on your individual blog if there's a category that you don't want to show.

Not to mention the links to other BlogHer blogs and the great CPM rate, I think that you should go for it!

Not a sell-out at all. Do it. I generally ignore all ads, but they don't bother me, as long as they're not between blog entries. I've never liked that method of advertising.

I like ads when they're relevant to the content and unobtrusive, like just a few links. It's also nice to be able to click them for friends...it's a way of saying, "I love you" online.

I see nothing wrong with having ads on your blog. Go for it!

I say: What took you so long?

You go girl. I think that this is not a 'sell out' but a practical recognition of earning potential. Call it 'college money', 'ice cream money' or whatever money. I don't think it matters.

Hmm..not sure.. I think they would take away.. but then again, I've seen them before and they didn't bother me at all!
