the very definition of a "thankless task"

An evening conversation in my kitchen:

Father (opening lunch bag): "You didn't eat your peach!"

Five year old Son: "I didn't see it was a peach."

Father: "What did you think it was?"

Son: "Something gross."

And that is why I hate making school lunches.

Tell me about it! I'm thankful my daughter at least is happy to eat school lunches. How cafeteria food can be good but my lunches can't is beyond me, but I'll take it! ;)

Amara is the exact way.

If she is not in the mood for something, then it comes home as "gross" or "boring."

I struggle with such a picky eater. So meat-and-potatoes like her dad.
