brain scanned

Update: My brain is perfectly normal. I'd still like to see the pictures but normal is very, very good.

I had a routine brain scan today, my first in two years.

It was pretty uneventful (they got the vein for the contrast dye on the first poke) and was over relatively quickly.

I can call for results in a week or so. And I'll probably be told that everything is fine.

I wish things were like in the movies, though and a few minutes after the test, a doctor would look at the images and then we'd discuss them.

I never get to see the pictures. Wouldn't you like to see images of your brain?

This is Patrick Denker's brain. I would like to see mine.

Yes I would like to see a scan of my brain. Kind of. I'd be a little scared of it too. My memory sucked and I'm afraid it might reveal early indicators of Alzheimer or MS or any one of the countless different neurological conditions that lurk in our family tree.
Sounds like I'm talking myself out of it. : ) Well anyway, I'd like to see one. Glad it went smoothly today.

Weird they don't ever show you the images. I assume they would if you asked...

Glad it went well today and glad to hear you will be carefree between now and your happy, healthy results.

I got to see mine a few years ago and it was totally cool. Eve and I both participated in a study on the neurological impact of a course called mindfulness-based stress reduction. The technician showed me my brain images when Eve was being loaded into the MRI machine. Mind-blowing.

Ha! The thing is, I would have no idea what I'm looking at. And whether or not anyone would want to know everything is a very good question! I'd like to have pics of all my scans but I'd especially like to see my brain.
Andrea - you've made me wonder. What if I asked to see my scans? And yeah - the results will be just fine.

Whoa! Ellen, I am sooooo jealous. Are the results of the study posted anywhere?

I've seen scans not of my brain but of other "inners"... fun stuff! Then I'll bust it out at parties and it embarrasses my hubby. Tee hee.

I'm hoping the silence since this post is not significant. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that you got to see your scan AND that it said good things...

You and your brain looked fabulous on Thursday night at BOLO. Sorry I didn't get over to chat...I was having a particularly shy and introverted evening.
Can't wait to hear the good results though.

Eileen- Silence not significant - results take a week and I've not yet heard. Lack of blogging due to a very busy week (I was out every night last week - very unlike me) and kids being home from school all is well.

Finola - me too with the introversion. Next time, let's be introverted together. You looked beautiful, too and you were a total star!

Laurie,
Glad your scan was alright. I just had a bone scan last week and it turned out ok for now too. It would be kind of fun to see the scans. Stay healthy.

Hi Laurie,
My name is Liz and I have been reading your blog for a while now. I am happy to hear that you are doing well despite you being tired. You will be around, much like you stated yourself for a long while to come, you have made it this far already. Keep on writing and we will keep on reading.
That said, since your blog is a great resource for someone going through cancer I wanted to reach out to you to see if you were interested in a new online social support network (that I am the community manager of!) called I Had Cancer. It is a new and free social support network focused on connecting people based on experiences with cancer so that they can easily communicate with one another and share information. I would love to tell you more if you are interested, so please let me know! Because I was so struck by your writing I would love to send you an early-access pass with extra invites for others you may know going through this journey.

Either way, thank you so much for your writing. Take care and best regards.
